Mini C-Arm
Cost: $50,000

The mini C-arm can obtain non-standard images to aid diagnosis and treatment. It will enable the clinician to obtain dynamic images and perform interventions such as manipulations or injections. The mini C-arm results in a significantly lower radiation exposure for the patients than a formal X-ray.
The mini C-arm can be used intraoperatively:
Pre-incision anatomical landmarking
Foreign body identification
Fracture reduction
Hardware placement and positioning
Decreasing dissection and allow for MIS (minimally invasive surgery)
Dynamic intraoperative images (fluoroscopy)
Final images in the OR
Decreased radiation exposure to patients
The mini C-arm can be used in the emergency department:
Immediate and dynamic imaging of fractures
Foreign body identification
Fracture reduction x rays at the bedside
The physician is the operator of the mini C-arm. There is no requirement for radiology technicians to run the machine. It is fast, with immediate digital images provided. These images can be easily stored and uploaded into the patients digital medical records.
Currently in the Cardston Health Centre operating room, there are multiple procedures that the mini C-arm would be utilized for. This would reduce the amount of soft tissue dissection required, decrease surgical times, and improve patient outcomes.
This would be a great asset at the Cardston Health Centre.
